Loyalty Cards
Solution
Customers are provided with an electronic loyalty card which can
be swiped through an EFTPOS terminal (similar to Fly Buys concept).
When the customer pays for their purchase with their EFTPOS
card, credit card or cash, and their loyalty card is swiped through
the EFTPOS terminal, the transaction data is sent to
SmartPay. SmartPay validates the information and then calculates
the loyalty rewards based on a percentage of the value of the
transaction. This loyalty reward is converted to $value for the
customer. The customer can then redeem the accumulated value.
Process Example
- Customer purchases 8 coffees from store A and pays cash
$32.00
- Customer loyalty card is swiped through EFTPOS
terminal
- Store enters $32.00 value and sends transaction to
Smartpay
- Rewards value set at 10%
- SmartPay calculates loyalty value $3.20
- $3.20 value added to customers card
- Customer goes to Store B and uses card to pay for
coffee/purchase
- Store B reimbursed for the transaction at normal cost.
Store Cost
- Store A pays the cost of the loyalty associated with each
transaction
- Store A pays loyalty transaction fee
- Store B pays redemption transaction fee.
When the retailer accepts loyalty card as a form of
payment, the card management system will validate the card and
merchant details and will decrement the card value by the amount of
the purchase. The transaction will only be authorised if the
following information is validated:
- Merchant identification details
- Terminal information or IP address
- Card number
- Sufficient funds available on the card to pay the transaction
value.
So long as the card is valid and there are sufficient funds on
the card, the transaction will be completed and a confirmation
receipt printed from the EFTPOS terminal.
